Notes
missed countdown. sorry. it's 2013 if you need to know.
bob started sunshine daydream right after s. mag, then he remembered the plan (i guess) and they played it later... just so you know.

How bout the end of Dear Mr. Fantasy? They're pretty much all goin into Mountain Song for a minute or so, then Bobby is doin the China Cat Sunflower intro, Keeps doin it, everyone else still goin at Mountain Song, then there's a bit of confusion before breaking into the wheel. For those who like this Music Never Stopped, try 9-16-10 at Eugene and 3-4-11 at Boston.

have been out on Archive pulling aud recordings a lot since they kicked this off in Oakland 2009 and finally learned how to deal with 24 bit files...and it makes a huge difference...awesome space & sound stage
fyi for anyone else, I'd been using Tunsify to convert FLAC and now use XLD. Files in iTunes are now way better...full bit rate & sample size. And for an audience tape fan, it is awesome to have everything there.
tks also getdownandrow - Eq works great especially if the HD is there...
peace everyone.

after listening to these for a few days and adding some much needed eq to all of these recordings i'm thinking i may add an eqed version to the archive. what i said earlier about the bassist, could be taken as a joke, but i was only half joking. these recordings sound dull and lifeless. entire frequency ranges were completely snuffed out of the mix, largely by the over-emphasis of the low end, giving the final product an overly airy quality that lacks anything resembling a tightness of image, nice round stable notes, and all the other factors that make a mix worth shelling out 100 clams to hear. 'taint the worst recording i've ever made (or heard), but it certainly needs fixing.
as i was kicking around here i checked out this one:
http://archive.org/details/furthur2010-03-12.nak300.gilmore.106525.flac16
this confirms my suspicions about what/who was to blame for the sound for this year's ny run; either a massively shittier p.a. or operator of same. the nak 300s have a narrower pattern than the mics i used, but not by enough to make a difference as large as exists between the show above and the dreck we had to suffer through for these shows (i know the characteristics of the nak 300s very well -- having recorded the deads with them throughout the middle ages). i guess i have to take back what i said about the room... the reason any recordist is able to present a nice recording is that they were given good data to record. the gear is not as striking as a factor as is the sound coming atcha.

for those who use iTunes to play back, there is a brilliant function i recently discovered. the player has an EQ, which you can manually set for any track go to "window," show EQ. you can then also create a new, pre-set EQ. you can then assign that particular track (or entire playlist) to apply that pre-set EQ setting every time that track (pr playlist) gets played. (got to "get info," open the "options" tab, and assign the pre-set EQ to any track you want to. every time that track (or playlist) is played, your pre-set will be applied.
this function saves many an otherwise mediocre audience tape, and some soundboards.

Are you kind?
I sure think so for releasing this file.
If you can put out the edited version, so much the better. But this is damn fine!

Just inquiring again. Does anyone know why there are sbd (official) releases on archive through new years 2011 and NONE thereafter?

How was that show so awesome? The best Music Never Stopped I've heard from Furthur, plus Dancing in the Street I'd had my fingers crossed for for New Year's. Uncle John's Band was great, After Midnight jammin.' Great crowd, great show, great recording.

After being a head for 25 yrs I made the trip from Philly, and soaked it all up. Got up front, in front of Phil and held my spot all night lol. Were all ther for the same thing to hear Furthur sing the songs we love and they didnt miss a beat, well Bobby did but he did that in the 80s when we were young. TMNS Dancing and UJB were personals for me but Wheel always makes me smile, last set really rocked ballon drop was way cool. Thanks Furthur for ur great tours and good times. Love u more than words can tell!!

While it wasn't the best night of the tour musically, it was definitely the most fun IMO. I tripped the 2nd night in a row this night, with double the dose of the 30th. Needless to say, shit got intense!
Dull first set until Scarlet, and then it got great. Music Never Stopped was awesome.
The Unbroken Chain IMO is the best ever. UJB was great, H>S>F was very good. Sugar Mags and later SSDD were really fun, I like how we got teased with the SSDD at first.
Terrapin was very good and Brokedown was a very suitable closer for the tour.
