Subject: A disappointing recording lost in the haze of JazzFest late night
Recording 2
Intangibles 1
I wanted to like this show. I just couldn't hear it over the chatter. I listen through the whole thing, hoping that the second set would be better. It does improve somewhat, but the band can only really be heard when they are all at full blast. Also, there is not Charlie Hunter on this set which the band comments on in the last two (somewhat obscene) songs.
I understand the context. I have been to JazzFest and to the late night shows. One Eyed Jacks (the former Shim Sham club?) is a decent venue. By this time of night, the partons are likely adding more masts to their ships because three sheets to the wind is an inadequate description. But the end result, as heard here, is not a lot of fun. Go find a better recording. Thanks for the effort though.
