Notes
From David Gans:
"The genealogy of the show tapes varies from tape to tape.
In general, most of the time, it's master (reel, cassette, DAT, or whatever)
-> DAT -> Sonic Solutions digital audio workstation -> master CD
-> CD clone that goes to radio stations (or, in the case of public radio stations,
the master CD goes to NPR where it's uplinked to their digital satellite system;
most stations downlink to DAT and broadcast from that."

According to GD Database, these tracks match up with the show from 2/25/66 - LA, CA (Cinema Theatre). I believe the track "Hey Little One" was only performed 3 times and this is the only show of the 3 where all the other tracks match.

Jerry singing Lead Vocals-ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Harmonies are still coming together
Alvin & The Chipmunks version of RIDER
This version a lot more folky
but still not far from the live Europe 72 versions
that they tinkered with in the studio.
Check out Pig with lots of Harp
especially on THE KING BEE.
It may not be a solid 5 but it is a glimpse
into the GD womb

UPDATE 1/23/2007 from Paul Scotton ~
David Lemieux, keeper of the vault, has provided a complete set list for 3/12/66.
Old data (may not be accurate) ~
Pico Acid test. David Sorochty: the unknown Jam in the 1st set sounds similar at times to You Don't Love Me, Hog For You Baby, Big Boy Pete, or even like Deep Elem Blues (the old way like on 12/1/66). This tape has apparently only recently (mid 1998) come into circulation.
Another tape has been in circulation for years dated 3/12/66 or 3/19/66 which contains Viola Lee Blues# (14.56), You See a Broken Heart (3.10), and Midnight Hour# (10.44). However this is not exactly a partial copy of 3/12/66. The versions of You See a Broken Heart and Midnight Hour# are the same as on the complete 3/12/66, but the Viola Lee Blues is definitely a different version. So hold onto those older tapes. The full 3/12/66 tape does not have that voice that cuts in after You See a Broken Heart that says "RAW". I can't tell who that is or how it got there.
David Dieterich: Bobby talks about the funky P.A. which is making popping noises after It's a Sin and BIODTL. Lots of talk about the ice cream man outside after the 1st set ends (after Next time).
Old data (not yet confirmed for accuracy) ~ Midnight Hour cuts off with A significant portion missing. This tape also circulates (incorrectly?) as 3/19/66.

This early Dead is like butter on slightly undercooked grits...slightly raw yet buttery deliciousness keeps you coming back for more! I agree with the others, could care less how these recordings came to be. Thanks to archive I can enjoy them anytime I want.

Subject: who cares
who cares if we don't know the excact dates these songs were recorded. the sound is excellent. Just sit back, fire one up, and enjoy listening. My one question is; why is this'66 recording better than alot of the soundboards from the 90's?

It's early but good. I only wish there was more info on when this material came from!
