Unbelievable!!
This is one utterly amazing dark horse of a show. Yes, it's a damn shame that the sound quality plummets right after New Potato starts, but my God, what survives here, the Other One, is...words fail me, but I'll try...friggin' monumental. Astonishing. Mind-boggling. The most ferocious performance of TOO I've EVER heard, and I've been a fan since '69, so I've heard a ton of versions. The creative interplay between Lesh and Garcia is off-the-charts brilliant. Absolutely breathtaking. And I was totally straight when I heard it. It's a shame that Bobby's guitar is mostly somehow buried in the mix, though no, I'm not complaining! That the first half or so of this performance survived is a treasure, a gift from the gods of music.
This is a Cryptical>TOO you should crank up for anyone who thinks JG was a mediocre guitar player. I've heard that line repeatedly from people who don't know beans about the Dead, who've never really listened to much of them. Anyway, stream this on a good desktop system and let yourself be blown away on the wind of a cryptic envelopment.
Oh, and the good sonics show up again with Caution> Feedback> Goodnight, And that's definately worth hearing.
