50 Years Ago Today
This impromptu show was announced that morning on KMPX and my buddy and me left school in Pleasant Hill and drove to the Polo Fields at Golden Gate Park. It was a beautiful day -- warm and sunny. The Dead didn't play all that great, or so it didn't seem to us at the time, but listening to this show now I hear what we missed. We missed appreciating the moment in time, the lack of knowing that there would be very few free Grateful Dead concerts ever played again in GG Park, especially the Polo Fields.
I must give it the five star rating because of the meaning of what transpired there that day and that it captures another moment of time at this very moment, a fresh new moment of time.
