Notes:
- The balance, image, and generational issues have been attended to to make this historic tape a pleasurable listen
- This performance has traditionally circulated as August 5, 1970 at Golden Hall in San Diego, CA.
- As per deadessays post on "Missing 1970 Shows" (http://deadessays.blogspot.com/2009/08/missing-1970-shows.html), "No known recording. In fact, I don't know of any evidence that this show took place, and I don't think there was any show here. There is an SBD tape of an acoustic show with this date, but I believe it is from an unknown small club show, possibly a July show at the Matrix, and not from San Diego."
- As per deadessays post "1970 Redated Tapes" (http://deadessays.blogspot.com/2020/08/1970-redated-tapes.html), "There’s no evidence the Dead played any show in San Diego that month, let alone a casual acoustic show." and "Since it’s evidently in a small club, the best candidates are the Matrix and Lion’s Share." and lastly "It’s in roughly the same time period, late July/early August"
- Extensive review of San Diego Free Press v01n19 (issue 19) (July 25, 1970 - August 5, 1970), p. 16, accessed via Underground Newspaper Collection microfilm, reel #24 indicates no evidence that this show was booked at Golden Hall.
