Notes
This is a copy of the tape reviewed by Dick Latvala in his notebook http://www.dicklatvala.com/notebooks/pages/700524notes.jpg
It's a mono board tape and NOT from the same source as the circulating soundboard. The story I was told when I first got it back in the 70s was that it was the sound from one of the film cameras which had been left running (sadly on sound only) even though the Dead had dosed all the camera crew.
It came to me in a trade in the late 70s. At the time, only a poor audience recording circulated so, although it's not the complete show, it was a major upgrade. Many years later, a flawed soundboard started circulating with the odd cuts patched from an improved audience recording. Around 2001, I used this mono board to patch the soundboard and recently (May 2016) it was circulated as shnids 135716 and 135803 (same with additional tunings), along with the programme and photos from the show. I thought I'd long since lost this mono board tape.
However, amongst the handful of cassettes I'd kept in a box in the loft was this one. I've transferred it to digital and offer it up for the completists out there who may want a third source for this show. Who knows, maybe someone will take all 3 sources and make the definitive version one day?
