Can't listen for long enough to know what it's like. It sounds like the band is being put through a chorus pedal.

Subject: 1st live version of box of rain
This concert was the first time they ever played Box of Rain live. Due to the emotional weight of the song (written for Phil's terminally ill father) they didn't play box of rain again until 1972. I agree with an earlier comment; this live version most resembles the album version. The last song the dead ever played with Jerry was Box of rain in soldier field. soldier field is on lake shore drive. LSD. RIP Jerry.

This is worth a listen for the monumental DarkStar. The sound quality improves quite a bit after the first few minutes, though it is an AUD, not a SBD.

Why is this listed as a SBD? It's just a hacked up version of the same piss poor AUD that circulates in more complete, and *slightly* better quality. As can be read in the comments for the other sources (27951 probably being the best of them), this is one of those typical 1970 shows that would be top 10 material if only a better tape existed. 5 for the playing, 2 for the quality, bringing an average of 3.

This soundbourd is pretty hissy and the music is sort of quite, but it is an improvement over the audience recordings previously posted. Not many sbd's of Fall 1970 and it's awesome to find this one. The Box of Rain is great, one of the only live recordings I've heard that sounds like the album arrangement. Phil's lyrics sound great.
