Superduper 70' Soundboard!
Thanks Wayne Gucwa for sharing these shows with us. Thank you Mike Lai for seeding them to etree for us. We love you guys.
I highly recommend adding this show to your 1970 GRATEFUL DEAD collection.
The vocals are high in the mix, the music gets turned up a little more in the mix about a third of the way into Sugar Magnolia. Garcia is still playing his Wah-Wah pedal on Sugar Margnolia.
The GRATEFUL DEAD are in tune, in time and incredible. A classic 1970 performance before a New York State University crowd.
Garcia sings along with Pigpen on "Next Time You See Me". Jerry's guitar sound is delicious. The whole "sound" of the GRATEFUL DEAD is unique. I love that 70 sound.
You don't get to hear "Cumberland Blues" in between "Good Lovin'" too often...how about that?
After "Good Lovin'" the GRATEFUL DEAD speak to the audience explaining to them that the second show is scheduled to begin after the next song and that they (the audience) has to leave to let the people outside in for the second show. The GRATEFUL DEAD mention to the crowd if there are any seats left you can get back into the show, if you have your ticket stub from the first show...LOL.
Just a rock-n-roll band trying to earn a living...eh?
