12th Trip Around the Sun
I agree, this is an upgrade over shnid 15879. For the first set, skip to the more recent/updated Charlie Miller (flac1644- updated on 11 May 2018). Too bad there isn't a second set CM update! At any rate, this show is sort of standard fare for May- err, almost-May- '77 Dead. In other words, it's really, really good, even if it does somewhat pale in comparison with the gems from Magical May of '77. Minglewood opener is followed by an early Deal, then much that's familiar for the era: TLEO, Peggy O, LLR, BEW, TMNS, etc. There's also a neat Lazy Lightning->Supplication and I definitely enjoyed the late set Ship of Fools. But the real goods come in the second.
Highly rated twenty-minute Scarlet-Fire to open, ranks at 19 on headyversion (with 47 votes it's tied with Jamaica 11/26/82). As good as that is, the real show highlight is the 45-minute sequence after Samson: Terrapin->Playing->Drums->Wharf Rat->PITB Reprise. Just awesome. Like I said, too bad there isn't a better board in the archive. I guess the audio here is good enough, save for a few patches. At least this show is now more readily available as an official release in the 30 Trips Series. This show's Estimated Prophet made the cut for the 30 trips definitive live story.

Seriously screaming Music Never Stopped
‘77 was prime for Music... this one is way hot. Also, this is about the fourth Scarlett Fire pairing and Jerry loosens up w a Fire solo near end.

Good show .
Of course we all know there are better shows in 77 but this one has some fun stuff to it. It's the begining of the year so song selection and adding new tunes is all up in the air as far as the band selecting songs to play and jam to. Just check out Wharf Rat for that observation on my part. In the begging of Wharf Rat I hear a touch of Comes a Time and also Sing me Back home. then it's Wharf Rat but at the end of the song before going back to playing they sound like they might go back to Supplication. Now that's the fun part of the band we love. We followed them EVERYWHERE for that reason among others. Never knowing what they might play any given night.
This show is 4 star because 77 has many 5 stars.

Very Fine Show And Recording...
Gosh, this is just a nice show to listen to. Everyone is LISTENING to each other, and seem very in the moment. Jerry's trilling through Looks Like Rain is just gorgeous. Heck, even Donna is on it this night.
Every Head is going to fiddle with the EQ a bit, bit this recording is really quite clean and bright. My B&W reference speakers are not very forgiving, and this show sounds just wonderful without touching the EQ... Of COURSE I fiddled though.
Well-done, Bill Guarneri-- thank you SO much for sharing this with the world. We're better for it!
