COMMENTS (1) Saint Stephen not finished. (2) Iko Iko is sung as part of Not Fade Away - no transition exists between songs and one could argue NFA is 12:51 with lyrics to Iko Iko sung at the beginning (much like Who Do You Love appeared in versions of Caution in 1972).

Run of the mill 77
which means it's a really good, solid, rockin' romp of a show. Dancin' is a major highlight, brought up to speed unlike the too-slow Cornell version, and Estimated -- whoa, Jerry plays with ear-piercing intensity. He gets downright nasty in Not Fade and comes back and rips the Uncle Johns encore. This show does suffer from the typical 77-78 problem of Keith being almost non-existent other than comping.

Greater than Cornell??
One of the all time great Spring tour '77 shows, obscure. Check out the 18 minute Dancin' to end the 1st set. 2nd set, all time great set list - Aiko Aiko intro into a fantastic NFA, then the rest of the set. Sugar Mag, killer. UJB encore, killer +. Pound for pound, right there with 5/7/77, if not better. Along with 11/06/77, Binghamton, literally works of fine GD art.
Enjoy and crank it!!

too much sauce
fed my face on ribs and beer, which may have added to the general "eh" feeling of this show. the bertha>good love combo has been in the offing, so it was a great opener. the jack-a-roe made its second funky appearance, adding a breath of fresh air to a pretty predictable stable of songs. first passenger of the tour is nice, too, and the dancing...well, i just can't get enough of them.
second set is serviceable, but nothing too surprising. iko seemed an afterthought and not as good as the first one a few nights back. now, the NFA is a different story - back down in the dirt where it was in ithaca, scratching some places no one knew existed.
i'm heading down to sweet home alabama tonight, hoping to lose my rib-induced blues and shake my tailfeather night after next.
