The heart has it's beaches..
11 tunes in both the 1st and Second Set.
(Perhaps sound- little off kilter during 1st set at times)
These EYES from ENGLISHTOWN & late 77 are my favorite.(Besides obvious 20 minute 73 EOTW 'suites')
This show does kick into another gear in the 2nd set.
From EYES I thought for sure they were headed for Drumz right after Phil's bass coda.
Jam outta Dancin is Jerry driven.
They grab 4 minutes of drumming and then serve up generous portions of standard end of show material. ( ABOVE SENTENCE IS MY OFFICIAL REVIEWER STATEMENT)
which translated is:
THEY FREAKIN ROCKED!!!
I have listened to a lot more GD now then I ever listened
to back when i was going to shows.
Well better stated i have access now to so much more GD with amazing SOUNDBOARDS now thru IA.
One thing I marvel at is how consistently good the GRATEFUL DEAD were live. I recently listened to the 76 catalog and the only major difference show to show tended to be the quality of the recordings. ( i found the band pretty consistently hot night to night.)
Blazing this NFA.(love these 10 minute versions)
Black Peter-They tended to rotate the same Garcia tunes in the ballad spot but does PETER ever get old?
I like how they take their time with it here and explore the jam.
Donna so sweet on the ballads!
Picking up CB radio,, 'come on back.'
AROUND- a song that I kinda took for granted when I was fortunate enough to catch it live.
When they go for the Chuck Berry hooks this song can stand with any in the repertoire.

A vastly overrated show, as is often the case with 77 shows, this is still pretty good. Have only listened to the first set so far...
...and boy, did I speak too soon! The 1st set is a bit lackadaisical, but holy SHIT they busted it out for the 2nd! This Dancin' in the Streets sees Garcia's new MXR Distortion + pedal hard at work with some almost Hendrix-like fuzz: some of the coolest diode overdrive you've ever heard, and he knew how to use it! Holy shit indeed, this is one of the finer 2nd sets I can remember.
Towards the end of the awesome Black Peter...is that a cop frequency being broadcast through the Dead's sound system?! Ha ha! It's at about 8 minutes through. The band suddeny slows down & looks at each other. They had a cop freq going through their PA and it was totally, utterly weird. But they stayed smooth! Hilarious!

needs more cowbell
this sounds great, but if there was a little more cowbell in the Dancin intro, I'd like it more.

Let us have the AUD.
The patch source sounds nice.
When is the CM release coming out?
Not that there's anything the matter
with what we have here.
