polka time etc
LI pirate is REALLY grasping at straws.
Bob often started out mexicali by saying 'it's polka time' and or adding later 'everybody polka.' Mexicali is a 'polka' tune. he said this numerous, numerous times at venues EVERYWHERE.
Regarding the show a good Missizippi for the period and the frankie is a goodie as it was throughtout 79. they played frankins FREQUENTLY in 79, both nights at cape cop and usually every 2nd or 3rd
night.slower tempo as opposed to the uptempo frentetic versions of 81/82 -84.

2:10 of Mexicali Blues
First time I've listened to this show since I saw it and I'd forgotten just how great this concert was.
Very good quality audio when you get beyond the bad mix at the very beginning. It's real nice to have a clear soundboard to listen to so many years after the fact.
There's a lot of subtle harmonics and banter that you can pick up in this show and the boy's were clearly having fun.
I just wonder if Bob's polka reference was because he'd drove past the old "Polka Town" record store on Post Avenue on his way to the Coliseum or he remembered the "The Beer Barrel Polka" they played at Nassau back on Sept. 8 1973.
