Subject: The best AUD source to my ears...
A big thanks to our crack team of Charlie Miller and Co. for all the great continual effort on audience sources. Well, this is the best audience source to my ears and it's great since it's such a hot show; at least that's the consensus. Sure, you can listen to the soundboard filled with muddy, no high end or definition. Yes, this aud source is the best listen, and it's evident that the soundboard sources blow, and the PA wasn't the greatest in the boomy acoustic venue. However, I can hear the high hat cymbals and every now and then some decent dynamic range, and audience hand clapping is at minimum compared with other sources.
As for the set list, it seems pretty standard but rather long, a long 1st set. Six songs before the drum solos; five songs after space including the encore, a little reminiscent from the late 70's. The first set is solid well played, but the second set is on fire! It just seems they are tight on this show, pre drums is up and down in terms of tempo but the passion is even there on the slow songs. Some really nice organ work on "the other one" by Brent. The segues between songs on this show are flawless, they almost sound rehearsed which is rare for the Grateful Dead, check out the "stella blue" , NOBODY does soft ballads like Garcia, you can almost hear a needle drop at times, it's so dynamic especially when Phil drops the bombs!!! However, bring back the rock and roll with Miracle into Good Lovin with Bobby W! Cap it off with a Garcia ballad encore and "goodnight irene" ... it's really that's simple ... this show is candidate for a commercial release! Sure, it's not the best audience source in the world BUT it's about the performance, and this is the best AUD capture.
