Well I dunno how this recording has no reviews. My brothers and my sisters, this field recording is one of the reasons to be Grateful. And recorded by an inveterate taper who knew what he was about. Listen to the other field recordings available for DL here. Hell, listen to the soundboard that’s available. Then give this recording a listen on a decent hi fidelity system with the dial turned over to about four o’clock. Then get back to me.
Is this the greatest show they ever played? No. So what? But goodness they were making some things happen that night in LI. Listen to the folks respond to their playing. They were tuned in and the band is clearly enjoying it and feeding the love right back.
I leave you with this…in the days when what happened between Bob and Jer during his solo in Estimated was anybody’s best guess, this one is just delightful. Always on the immediate edge of falling apart—even narrowly skirting an abrupt ending—and they still manage to pull it off. Quite a ride.
If you like a high quality audience this is certainly a fun show to listen to.
