Subject: Watch each card you play..
for why every show has something cool to offer.
1st set is 6 tunes
but has a very laid back flow
Stranger is good with Weir vocal prowess
FOTD- just the ticket
CC RIder-Brent has the mojo
Ramble on- loved this tune especially 71-72
but here in 83 the vocals seem to keep Garcia
from the guitar. Just an observation,
not an iron clad dogma thing
(When Phil did this as a sing a long it shined again.)
ESAU-again every version I hear just makes me like this tune even more, very unique, very danceable!
DEAL-Potent set closer ---Jerry lets it rip
Weir- has a lot of heart
takes the time to point out the Anti-Nuke tables
at the venue
Not sure how close this was to TMI.
I personally know people who got cancer
living near that place
when it almost melted down.
BUCKET-Pre-MTV before became a caricature of itself.
Had a brother who turned his back on this song
felt it was too much about anger and vengeance
it works as a stand alone opener here IMHO
China>Rider- this is perky , slam dance worthy!
The PITB sounded like something else for a minute?
Break neck speed from China>Rider>Playing
then they take off on a very psychedelic jam
which lands with xylophone and trippy whale noises..
Sound is excellent, like at the show
but not in any way intrusive
to the music.
The Spanish Jam out of Space is sizzling
almost Hendrix like Isle of Wight
with somebody tapping the tambourine
right into MIRACLE.
Everybody harmonizing on 'need a Miracle'
Stella Blue-pretty tune,
a metaphor for the whole enchilada
When all the cards are down
there's nothing left to see
There's just the pavement left
and broken dreams
In the end there's still that song
comes crying like the wind
down every lonely street
that's ever been
Stella Blue
GDTRFB>NFA
not one who keeps track of such things but these tunes together while pretty regular pre-74
has to be a bit of a rarity in the 80's?
(Throwing Stones made off with Not Fade)
NFA has a nice boogie woogie jam
before last lyrics coda
Brokedown- pretty safe bet
that if you got a Palace
you saw a beauty of a show.
