Subject: Nice Job ... best source so far
I had the 2nd set a long time ago on probably 3rd gen cassette ... not from this source but I always thought this was a strong show and still do. Yes, Garcia's voice is a little scratchy and froggy at times (he probably had a cold) but when Jerry doesn't sing great he PLAYS amazing guitar.
The first set is solid , it's not a warm up , it's hot right out of the gate. Since, the 1st set is played so well, the Grateful Dead bring the A game for the second set; so powerful ...there's no encore... didn't need it There is a jam off of Eyes of the World that puts you right in the phil zone ... they must have had some sub woofers somewhere
Kudos to the Tapers ... I'm a big fan of the Sennhieser ME-80s microphones, at times they deliver a very well balanced, clear capture especially if the PA is sounding good... From Some reason Healy gets a great sound out of the Hartford Civic Center.. the 86 shows sound great too. I've never seen a soundboard of this show circulate; hopefully maybe the GDM will release the show commercially ... a well played and entertaining show ... don't miss this one ... great source too , needs a little EQ on the high end but still great job !!!
