It's hard for me to review this show as I was not there, but was a head at the time and heard about it immediately afterwards as just part of the awesome continuance of the Grateful Dead. Garcia's voice was a little rough, as it was for quite a few shows from this period, but he's consistantly on top of everything this weekend. The real treat in the Scarlet>Eyes is the transition where Garcia toys with maybe going into Fire until finally letting go into Eyes. The Truckin'>Other one transition is also quintisential Dead. This show may be flawed in it's perfection or perfected in it's flaws, but desert islandish it is. This recording is better balanced than the other 'bassey' one I grew up with and yea, wow!

Fun show--lots of good tunes. I thought the Scarlet>Eyes was good, but not spectacular. But what about 3 straight Jerry tunes to open the second set and the unusual placement of GRTRFB? Very curious...

A couple of years ago I came across Scarlet Begonias into Eyes of the World from this show, that just totally blew me away. Jerry's slow which starts after he sings "Let her pass by" at the 3:45 mark is mind blowing. Its like your on a roller coaster ride for a good 3 minutes. Jerry just flows right thru it and the boys are right there with him.. Then the transition into Eyes is amazing. And up until know this show wasn't available for download. I'm about to listen to the whole show. and if Jerry and the boys are on as they are on Scarlet/Eyes this show is a must to download. I miss you Jerry. We all miss you.
