Subject: Stagger Lee>Aiko
Subject: Stagger Lee>Aiko
This show has some jump to it.
Bertha>Greatest
Catches Phil on the bass making sounds that remind me of the instant that the danger of a lightning strike is imminent.
West L.A.
Jerry hums a few of the lines
no matter this tune is so right on
Mama Tried>Me & My Uncle
Hey you must play these in Cowboy Country
Stagger Lee>Aiko
For my money the Aiko pushes the set into tight territory
Minglewood
This is a mighty fine MINGLEWOOD!
and I don't always say that.
Brent is like Scatting while he plays
Ramble On Rose
A little step back in intensity until 3 + minutes in
the jam gets an Estimated funk for just a little bit.
Bucket
closing the first set with BUCKET?
Yeah, very doable in 1985
Has a little Picasso Moon riff to start
(before there was a Picasso Moon that is)
this is a quick tempo closer!
Phil gets in another Thunder Clap / Lightning Bolt
A good 'aud' here that really captures the intensity
of the Grateful Dead in 1985.
AT LEAST I AM ENJOYING THE RIDE!
Set Two:
So I was multi-tasking a few things with Set Two in my ears and got to the middle of PITB -oh my everything else stopped for me
as they melted down mid PLAYIN'
Why follow this band--this was why
SEARCHING FOR THE SOUND?
F-O-U-N-D..
really nice PITB space into a rapid throw down DRUMZ
yeah how low can I get my face to the ground without wiping out.
How free can i dance without ever disrupting anyone else's orbit
FORGET OUR WEAKNESS AND DANCE
FORGET OUR SICKNESS AND DANCE
about 3 minutes of full on DRUMMING
then electronica with Bigger Drum keeping distant time.
ever increasing spaciness
that was the stuff that tended to get spooky
like I was very crispy for the longest time
and there is to my imagination
SATAN and Saddam Hussein
way before South Park..
Kinda interesting that SPACE has more structure
than the Drums that proceeded it.
I can't remember the SET LIST which is very good.
You know the intensity I got just being lit up
was magnified so much by the band's jams.
I hardly said 'two words' at shows when the band was jamming
but enjoying writing now and to me this is the continuation of the one in ten thousand that come for the show it is such a pleasure to write and here the music unfold.
Whatever Brent was SCATING during Minglewood
comes full circle here.
Got to be The Other One?
Could also be Miracle>
Because they were doing Cryptical at times in 85
Yeah it is MIRACLE
took me forever
which is a good thing for sure.
MIRACLE was well placed in 1985
Just popped up everywhere
Oh Phil with that bass
Does Weir still Rock Star?
Garcia with those backing vocals
I
NEED
A
MIRACLE
E

Y
So that is slide work in there?
I never really noticed very much
Second Set slide work..
Oh perfect set-up
for a Garcia Ballad
NOTE:Sound is EXCELLENT
and has been throughout
CHINA DOLL was yummy in 85
Good chance to pull it all back together
It seemed like it was played pretty regularly
Garcia and the drummers and Phil.
Brent good work in the nooks and crannies
Great crowd ambience
This IS one of those
church moments
just as hushed
as all us rabble could manage
la, la, la, la
AROUND
Got me thinking about Charlie Watts
Ol Charlie Boy!
I know the Dead did get to share a bill with the Stones
There are photo's of the Stones tongue
up there with the STEAL YOUR FACE.
and yet again Brent hits that same organ note
that is a certain tune?
no scatting here
Oh my Good Lovin'
pre La Bamba
but very much in the Ritchie Valens style
The overwhelming hopefulness of this tune.
I think this was the tune that Bobby
would lay down the PUSH BACK THE NIGHT ---RAP
"As my family Doctor"
FUCK Covid!
"Darkness in the world today"
The real news is the face right next to you...
e) Day Job
come on Wallflowers ---it is way danceable!
THE FACE ON YOUR DOLLAR
GOT A THUMB TO HIS NOSE
AND A HAND ON YOUR COLLAR
happy labor day 1985
