Where to start with Hampton? Saw the dead there numerous times...one of the general admission holdout venues...so many great shows. These three were especially good being the first on the east coast since jerrys comeback. So much joy and energy....seems a little silly to rave thirty years later but I miss it. They brought a lot of joy and great times to my friends and me. I will always be a fan....god bless em.

The tape is nice and clear with just the right amount of audience. The crowd is feverishly happy but not intrusive.
The show is tremendously energetic like much of Spring '87. I think some other commenters here and on other sources are exaggerating the Althea a little, but it's very good, and all the highlights are very legit. Stella is gorgeous.
I don't hear any Spanish Jam or certainly none worth a track listing, but whatever.

He muffed the lyrics badly a few times but it ends on some of the best guitar work from Garcia surpassing any other version. Except maybe, 3/28/81 & 9/30/81, those 2 are slower but equally powerful. For this one, though, he plays it in full on rock and roll mode like some kind of a mad genius. It's close but it beats the rock and roll guitar solo in DDHNM from Shoreline '89 & that's saying alot.

I stood out on Mercury Blvd that day and held up my "Need a Miracle" sign. Got my ticket and then later proceeded to enter the gates of the heavenly giant clamshell known as Hampton Coliseum. This recording brings me back to the rush and excitement of the evening and the crowd. The boys were as good as I'd ever seen them before and Stella Blue put a smile on my face that took weeks to wash off.

I have been listening to the Brent years and this has to be one of the best shows I have listened to so far...Garcia's vocals on IKO IKO (around one min) are amazing...Plus the fast pace of Stranger is awsome...Sound quality is great especially for an AUD...As always Brent is fantastic...Altogether this is definetly worth downloading...
