Mdarby,
I'm the person who posted the comment:
".........Always appreciated but: -mp3s mislabeled -and speed WAY off. It'd be great to hear some of the hard work in transferring these if they could be done with correct speed......."
I appreciate greatly (we all do) this wonderful slew of your recordings that keep appearing every day (many of them upgrades to existing sources). They sound excellent. A huge and continued thank you for the exhausting job of lugging gear to all the shows, maintaining and repairing the gear, coordinating, mail-ordering for tapers tickets, setting up the rig every night, tearing it down, dealing with loud concert goers, transferring the recordings, editing, track splitting, track naming, keeping track of everything, and then uploading (as well as the long list of responsibilities not mentioned and that a non-taper is not even aware of) so that all of us get the chance to hear your excellent work. We are truly lucky and the receivers of this great stuff with no work on our part. Thank you is not enough, but here it is.
Apologies that my observations came off as impersonal...my bad. I had put the "appreciated" and "hard work" language in the quick comment but, yes, it's still not enough. After working your tail off to give us the gift, seeing a comment like mine probably seemed inappropriate. Again, my apologies.
I mentioned the speed simply as a note, that it might simply serve as a useful observation; because I honestly felt that, with the excellent quality of these recording, the cherry on the top of the sundae would be the speed calibration (as some of them at first hearing do seem to be running a bit fast - and checking with a tuner confirmed that...). It's simply a matter of the territory of tape and transfers - not a comment on quality or appreciation. The issue of speed is talked about (and corrected) quite a lot - it's not personal - just another one of the many pieces of the puzzle (and nothing you're not already aware of). Yes, ideally a transfer is done with speed calibration (if it's available) so that the excellent recordings truly sound as they did when captured. Still the recordings sound great nonetheless.
But that being said, you and keo are the ones doing all the work, and we are thrilled and lucky to get these great new sources (and a window into your taping), in any form.
They are great.
Bottom line.....THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
