Thank you to Charlie Miller for the first set soundboard transfer,
to Dan and Chuck Vasseur for recording the show,
to John Ammons and Joe Noel for the AUD transfers,
and to David Beckwith for suggesting this matrix project and providing feedback.
Matrix by Hunter Seamons using Final Cut Pro (SHN & FLAC > AIFF > Final Cut w/EQ > Soundtrack > AIFF CD tracking via Audacity > FLAC16 via xACT w/meta-tagging)
August 11, 2020, Rowe Mesa, New Mexico
After much consideration with the help of David Beckwith, we decided the best two sounding SBD sources for this matrix project were Miller's older #137081 cassette master transfer for set 1 and the unknown #31953 cassette source for set 2. I also matrixed entirely an all-digital second set, #150455 (8/1/20), with the Miller #137081 DAT beforehand, but it just sounded slightly sterile or duller compared to the first set matrix. The #31953 source, which seemed to improve things and sounded better (to our ears) than the new Miller #149622 cassette transfer, might have been EQ'd or is just a more optimal transfer for whatever reason. Maybe it was just a better quality cassette tape for the 2005 transfer.
Clicks removed in Sugaree and Reuben And Cherise using Soundtrack Pro.
The first set cassette source generally ran between 1.5% and 2.0% fast and was pitch corrected.
Several instances of static occur, mostly during Space. One occurrence in Crazy Fingers was reduced.
Great audience energy during Uncle John's Band!
Mystical cowbell/beam action towards end of Drums!
Bob teases China Cat Sunflower at the end of GDTRFB.
