Probably the last good Dead show I ever saw
I remember heading to this one as a junior in college with a couple of friends. In those days you had to call the Grateful Dead hotline to find out what they'd been playing during previous shows on the tour. I remember knowing it was Garcia's "turn" to open the show, and the weather dictated it was going to be Cold Rain & Snow. From the first notes, we were off and running. A lot of fun. Still the beginning-of-the-end era with plenty of flubbed lyrics but overall pretty well played and a nice set list. Queen Jane can be a buzz kill in the first set sometimes but this one smoked. Hornsby in the groove on the Stones tunes. An excellent Matrix brings back all the memories - well done and thank you! 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
