50 years upon my head...
I guess you had to be there for this one. Great show! Not an epic one, but fun to be at. The previous night was a bit more creative, but still an intense show for the post-Bruce summer. Even Vince was sounding good. These 2 shows also had some of the best lighting fx I've ever seen at any show. Yes, some problems with the new ear-monitors, but I found it fun. It sounds like there was a feedback issue. From the moment the band got on stage it was just crazy. Cassidy was exceptional. To my knowledge, it was the first time Jerry sang "50 years upon my head" in Ship of Fools, with his 50th less than 2 months away. Good Eyes>Drumz>Space too. I'm grateful for this amazing recording.

My first show!
I can't really say anything too special happened this night in the grand scheme of Grateful Dead-dom, but it was the stop where I got on the bus and that's enough to make me really happy for a Charlie Miller soundboard.

Not a great show by any stretch
but it's nice enough. it does definitely pale in comparison to most of the richfield shows in the 90s. they seem to be having sound problems during the first set. wang dang, me and my uncle -> big river all sound nice. Deal is the highlight for sure.
The second starts out a little snoozy with victim (ugh.. again?!) -> ship -> way to go home. they kind of lost me there. this isn't even a good victim as victims go. i do like this version of ship of fools -- jerry's solo is nice -- so this is a worthy download if you're a fan of that tune -- but it just does not work in the second set two-hole b/w those two other lame songs. jerry tries to pick up the pieces with Eyes and fairs admirably. the jamming starts to improve by the time they leave the stage for Drums. Black Peter is nice, as it almost always was. not the best crescendo solo i've heard in that tune, but it's pretty lively and not bad at all. The Brokedown encore is pretty sweet though.
the upshot of the 93-95 period is that vince was sounding better and better, even as jerry was in decline and bob was losing interest.
In short, listen to the first set; listen to Ship, if that's your thing; maybe the watchtower and black peter; and the Brokedown encore.
