Loose w/ some juice.
My buddy had been hitting shows since 1974. He was goggle-eyed post encore at the amount of energy captured in this show. He claimed he had never heard them play w/ this kind of raw power in all the hundreds of shows he had witnessed. It spooked yet exhilerated him at the same time. But this 2nd set did bowl us all over. The Baba O/ Beginning encore had something to do w/ that, I am sure----what a far, far cry from a Brokedown or Baby Blue....Jerry and Bobby's guitars are pretty grungy sounding throughout--I mean that lead in to Long way home is damn heavy and wild. The last day at Vegas, a few days before was the same. Powerful and a lil' sketchy, almost. Both of the second sets for these 2 May shows were just full of juice. The other 2 Vegas shows and the other 2 Shoreline shows sandwiching 5/16 and 5/21 just did not have the same energy that these 2 I described had. Nice to have such a wonderful upload of this one. Thank you.
Adios and R.I.P., Johnny Brenan. This was the last Dead show for both of us.....fare thee, well. Tomorrow never knows.......
