Subject: excellent recording of decent show at a shady hollow

Mr. Holtz has once again given us a wonderful recording of what to my ears is a good post-Brent show. The sound seems clear and crisp and includes enough crowd noise to remind you this is a live show, but not enough to distract from the party going on on stage as Jerry and the boys enjoy themselves.
I'm always up for a good Peggy-O and this version is nice. We get some great harmonizing during High Time and after a short pause and a bit of noodling Bobby pulls into Memphis at a reserved but striding pace. Another brief pause and we are treated to respectable first time out of Childhood's End. I know I'm in the minority but I enjoy Phil's singing and the growth in confidence over the years. Wish there'd have been a chance to work this song into a regular rotation to mature as this version is quite good. Dough Knees bounces us over to the set break.
A good version of Box well sung greets us this night as the second set opener. Samba starts with a funky little groove that never soars very high and just kind of fizzles out while we await the next song. LLR comes crawling out. No great shakes but an enjoyable and well received rendition. HCS bounces merrily up next and keeps the vocal harmonies going strong this evening rolls into Corrina. Matilda, Matilda makes it's debut next and stomps in to Drums. In the dying moments of Space UJB unferrals it's tendrils. A lively, fun filled jaunt which works it's way to a kickin' Miracle which unwinds into a tight, spirited and lively Dew. The Johnny B. Goode likely had folks jumping and shimmying well after the lights came up and the speakers shifted to house music.
Overall I'd say a fine post-Brent show that from the sound of it was enjoyable to be at. Other than the numerous times playing pauses/stops between songs, even in the second set, a show I will likely revisit again some day. This audience recording is wonderfully done and listenable. No "best of"'s here, IMHO, but certainly plenty of Good Ole Grateful Dead.
