Best Smokestack Ever, Unusual St. Stephen>NFA Sandwich
The St. Stephen>NFA>St. Stephen from this show is unique, mostly because they don't have it quite figured out yet!
Rather than starting NFA after the "one man gathers" verse, it instead starts after the "lower down again" line. Though there's some clear hesitation, it has an interesting stillness compared to the explosive NFA entires that were to follow. The NFA itself is rather nondescript, with little jamming, but it's a cool segue IMO.
The Smokestack is of course, the highlight of the show, and is likely the best version ever performed. Jerry's and Bobby's guitar duel during the final break sneeks up seemingly out of nowhere, and builds into a slow, sinister blues attack that peaks very nicely!

missing setlists
c- freedom, tons of shows from 66-71 have no tape or setlist so it's certain that plenty of Smokestack Lightnings are undocumented. Many commenters seem to regularly ignore that there are plenty of setlist gaps in the early years and treat what is known as if it was the whole story.

Let a poor boy ride...
SMOKESTACK-This tune played 61 times but most of those were after 1984. This is the real deal with PIG at the mic. I counted like 16 performances by him of this song. I guess because the tune was included on Bear's Choice most people assume it was played regularly but this was a rarity.
(This vesion also was included on the re-issue of Bear's Choice.)
Sound is an issue at times.
But the overall performance is very good.

While the other two recordings of this show are moderately better quality,
this is the most complete copy & it's not that much worse. Great playing by the Dead.
