I don't know why but this page has a depth of sound that seems to be missing from the other copy of this concert..and its a terrific one! I thought I might have been there(guess it was the other Civic Center show)but this one is better..great list of songs. Is that Donna? Shes' right on the harmonies, and Jerry Garcias' vocals are deep and clear. Wharf Rat, Candyman, just incredible..

Subject: I NEED THIS SHOW
Is there any nice person out in the WWW that can get me a good copy of this show. I happen to be born on that exact date, and my favorite song Mississippi Half Step; (which says, ON THE DAY WHEN I WAS BORN)is on the first set. The show is awesome...I have listened to it on here many, but I wish I could have real copy to listen to in my car or MP3 player. SOMEONE PLEASE!!!!!!!

you would keep from downloading this special nook of history over some tuning? Ill download it twice then...Just for you!

Subject: Not bad
The recording quality is better than average. 4 of 5. What is annoying is all the tuning in between songs is found at the beginning of a song, not the end of the previous one. So when you listen to, say Jack Straw, you have to wait 45 seconds through the tuning to hear the song.

The tuning should have been cut to be on the end of the previous song.

On second thought, not worth the download. The tuning is at the beginning of each song, and that is incredibly annoying.

I don't know if they've reconfigured the archive or what, but I can't even stream a whole show. I'm getting every other song, which turns into a real drag when you get to the jam and it cuts ahead to the next tune, or like Weather Report Suite you just get the intro and then it cuts ahead. I'm no tech head, so maybe I'm hittin the wrong button on the stream, but somethin tells me somethin is up.

Wow, I love 73, this band was put togther right all year, and this show is a reminder of it. The WRS is special and the jam into Wharf rat is something of it's own, it has a twist, a spark of potential and exploration, not too far off from electric 1970, Ill have to listen to DP36 to compare. The early WRS makes you feel like a fly on the wall in the development of great material. where else can you get that from a concert. There is also a calmness in the playing that seems to suggest, we are right where we want to be.

The CandyMan is worth the download itself, this song is like icing on the cake, played only here and there, never too often, after 70, flavour adding to an already sweet taste.

I thought this show was overrated when I first heard it. I was wrong, the jam into Wharf Rat (after the WRS section) is a thing of beauty, a touch of exotica that recalls perhaps the 9/21/72 "Star," which had Middle Eastern overtones.

Your right Jerry sounds great in the mix...a little off vocally but easily forgiven.
Good stuff....

Did anyone really listen to the fantastic tone on Jerry's guitar on Candyman, especially in the solo......holy crap it's all vibrato slow and steady......man!

Great sound, the boys rocked B-more again 6 months after the legendary 9-17-72 show. The Playin on this one is a highlight for the month.
Wolfman Jack comes out and introduces them before the second set, and they go right into Ramble On Rose...
awesome!

Subject: Great Show
The sound quality of this show is great. It should be downloaded for the DEW alone. Another legendary 73 show. I feel like a broken record saying legendary 73 show. But then again, weren't they all?????

The show will download in order. However, the first two songs of the night are mis-titled. BIODTL and BE Women are actually Promised Land and 1/2 Step and are in the proper order. Just misnamed. Will review at length latter. The sound is good too, though, from the 6 first set songs I've heard. Doubt this will go down to 3 stars.

The jam out of Truckin' into the WRS Prelude is really special with some slide work.
