1976
Although the Grateful Dead have been a part of my life since birth, literally (parents were fans early on), I've only recently began to take a deeper look. i really love this platform for making it so easy to pull up all these shows. i thank all the "tapers" for all they have done throughout the years and I give thanks also to the Grateful Dead for giving us this awesome gift of allowing it. I like this show. A notable thing I'm hearing in the '76 tapes is the singing is especially sweet and the overall energy and togetherness of the band. What really stands out to me, though, is the dynamic energy coming out of the audience at this time. It seems like the people were super charged that year or something. It's FANtastic. Maybe it's the bicentennial spirit or something but America was fired up!

Nice and Slow
Others are convinced that the tape of this show is a little slow. It's OK. Makes things a bit more interesting. Really like Supplication, and Slipknot!. This version of The Music Never Stopped is outstanding. And may this music never stop. Roll away the dew, brothers.

Agreed about Donna
Some people can yell and sing, some can't. Donna can't. But when she doesn't YEEEAAALLL!, her voice is beautiful. I never have a bad thing to say about her because of that, even with her catwails. Yeah, Cassidy was so smooth and perty. In fact, I was diggin' '74 for awhile, and came over to the '76 years for something new, and lo and behold, this has all the attributes of '74, but smoother and deeper sound quality, at least this show anyways. Will listen to more!

good start to the comeback tour
Yea, there are a few points where "it" doesn't quite come together the way it could. This 1st performance of Lazy Lightning>Supplication seems a little shakey, but I think it arriving at it's final destination well enough. Crazy Fingers which is still very early in it's history is played with a bit of magic, and what I've come to regard as a FINE transition into a 2min intro jam for Wharf Rat has become another fav mixture of musical majesty.
I'll give it a solid 4 stars, though there are better performance later in '76. You will not be wasting any time listening to this show though.

beautiful!
i have never reviewed this one, though i dl'd it a long time ago and always come back to it. to me, one of the sweetest things to my ears is a '76 crazy fingers, and this one is beautiful. if i had to, i would call the one from 6.14.76 absolutely perfect, but i think this is an overall better show (though you should check that one out...great SBD). maybe not one of the best shows ever played, but this is one of my all time favorites. gorgeous!

one of the best
This is one of the best shows I've ever heard. Keith is playing beautifully, surprising high in the mix; Jerry is singing like it's a perfect studio take; MIckey & Bill are reclaiming the groove; it just all there, you know. 1976 -- can't ignore it. This is a shining example of the band really listening to each other, playing with passion.

Lazy Lightning and Supplication
I love listening to the first timer songs. Lazy Lightning is actually pretty good (but slow), and Supplication is weird. There is also a cut in it. Supplication is not all that tight and not completely pleaseant to listen to, especially during the singing part. Funny how the last Supplication is also wretched. The stuff in the middle (1977) is brillant.

smooth and easy
This show has such a warm fuzzy feeling to it. The vocals really took me by surprise...they are really singing on key, especially Donna.
I agree with gphishmon on his remarks about 1968 and 1976. I tend to enjoy 1968 over 1969. I can not say the same about 1976 over 1977....but 1976 is a developmental year...a year that stands alone. The sets were changing and the sound system was too. I love the warm, rich tone Jerry had in 1976...which actually got better and better up until about June 1977. In the fall of 1977 Jerry began to change his tone....he used more gain and a little distortion even. I have yet to hear a better tone by any guitar player than Jerry's in May 1977, or Fall 1973.
Anyway, stream this show and enjoy!

my first dead expierience was in 1972.i can remember the instant connection i made with the music. this show brings back that feeling. it has energy and leaves you anxiously
waiting for the next note or lyric. the sound quality is
excellent.i've listened to many shows and have been at many more. this ranks at the top. thank you for making it possible. if you like this show i would recommend that you listen to the JGB CD "don't let go" it has the same energy and quality.

Nice show
76 was kind of odd in a way. They could do Roses and Around and you think the show's over. Then they pull out a long, spacey Help>Slip. Scarlet and Dancin are pretty nice as well. Many people think of 69 and 77 as killer years, and they are, but I like the year before each, 68, and 76. Both have the Dead developing a style, but not quite down to a formula yet. There's also a lilt to the 76 sound that you don't hear too much of any other year.
The recording is a bit slow but otherwise the sound is perfect.

Great Sound and Great Show
The sound quality of this recording is excellent. The instruments are all well seperated and the drumming is extremely audible. The performance is also pretty groovy. In particular not only do Bobby and Donna sound great on Cassidy but the drummers put a great percussive groove behind it making it one of my favorite versions of this song. Candyman is also pretty sweet. 76 is just getting better and better!

Great Sound, Great Show! I can't see how anyone can give it less than 5 stars. I really love the verison of Help>Slip. Worth noting that the Dead played 4 songs for the 1st time in this show. They were: Might As Well, Samson & Delilah, Lazy Lightning/Supplication, and The Wheel

SWEET!!!!!!!
I have been searching for this one for a long time and WOW! totally worth the wait, the sound quality is incredible and this show is host to a lot of first time played among them samson, supplication, lazy lightning, and wheel. An absolutely smokin' help-slipknot-franklin's. Do yourself a favor and get this show!!! this show is the same sound quality as the SBD seed above but this seed is missing the encore, i would download the SBD version of this show not the Aud seed. there is a very noticeable drop in sound quality. Thank you Jon for uploading this incredible concert and patrick murphy for seeding this gem.
