Subject: Rhythm Goblins...
While overall I think this show is grand (and has great sound quality & setlist), I gotta say I prefer Jack-A-Ho (lol Deadbuck) with the normal rockabilly beat rather than the samba one heard here, although I give Billy and Mickey credit for trying something new.

On the very next cut, Mexicali Blues, they seem to be attempting to turn it into a Philly Soul/Disco tune...Mexicali Blues? It's all confusing but interesting. And the Eyes seems a bit perfunctory to me, except for some wicked jamming before the first verse.

Enough nit-picking, this is actually one of the better shows I've heard here, I just wanted to offer a bit of contrarian dissent. :p

Subject: FOTD!!
holy shit Friend of the Devil is tops at this show. Eerie piano riffs and Bobby's ultra Reggae-twinges make this FOTD on of the best if not the best slow versions. Donna isn't getting in the way either!

probubly the coolest estimated prophet i've heard, it all comes together this night, keith is unpluged for it, most other nights he's on the electric keys, and he is sharp as a result. They played estimated prophet every show on the fall tour, they must have been interested in it! gota love buffalo with the transition to other one, dick's picks picks the 19th and 21'st and 22nd over this? technicall difficulties are probubly the reason, cause this is superior IMO.

email me at fieldhouse11277@hotmail.com happy to share with some good listeners.

Subject: blistering but...
I've been listening show by show through Spring 1977 and getting into the spirit of that powerful tour, and this one has the band well-oiled and in top gear. The Other One is blistering! And the drop down to Stella is good, with a nice instrumental verse to lead into the vocals. Great phrasing from Garcia, and the band is with him all the way. But am I the only one who finds the double drum kits too heavy here? Particularly as BK lays back on the beat while MH doesn't, giving the da-dum snare most times.

Yes the "mellow/fast" theme is really cool. But no, this Jack-a-Roe does not touch the previous night in Tuscaloosa. They are the same beat but Jerry nails it on 5/17.

Subject: Stella Blue, and the setlist war...
Bob plays upbeat, Jerry mellows everyone out. The sound is gorgeous. Many songs have lots of extra touches added, such as a fine Ship of Fools with some very passionate vocals. Estimated>Eyes is flawless, and around 7:30 or so, Jerry and Bob start to intertwine lines that sound like one impossible guitar.
This Stella Blue is also one of the best IMO. Slow, dynamic, beautiful. Jerry's phrasing is inspired, both vocally and on his guitar. Keeping with the alternating songs theme, the encore is a well-crafted Brokedown Palace. Great show.

Subject: IN MY TOP 5 FAVORITES!!!
All the Jerry ballads are Exceptionally well played. Hell, even Donna sounds good and for me to say THAT is rare. I never have been a big fan of hers but on this one.....well it fits. First set is WELL played and the second is Awesome in it's execution!! Fans of ANY year could probably appreciate this show. The Jack- A- Roe has a funky slow groove to it that sheds new light on the songs style. Really not much to say except GIVE IT A LISTEN!! Well worth the time. Great sound quality too. A+!!!!

This show is outstanding! Best Jack-a-row...EVER! Anyone that hasn't bothered to DL this show ......needs to get clicking! Eyes of the World is blazing.

Is this a crystal clear not a pop to be heard cut? No...but then again..unless it sounds like it was recorded from the parking lot...It's always worth a listen.

Download this show...You will not be dissatisfied!!!!!!!
