How refreshing to hear Jerry go after this with solid soloing instead of the tired squeaking often heard. He was definitly on fire this evening Lotsa high energy all around on this excellent show.

this show as a lot of juice right out of the gate and you can quickly tell the band means business. with an extremely high energy first set, the second set rises still higher with the sailor>st>wharf rat>other one>drums being the highlight of show - -especially the little jam between wharf rat and other one... very creative stuff that night.
this aud isn't perfect, but its quite listenable, and definitely good enough quality to really get into the show. as another listener said: quality of show makes this an easy 'must listen'...

I am not one to complain about audience recordings - I come from the pre-Dick's Picks era when tapes where hard to come by and anything new was treasured. (The Caveat Emptor statement on those early Dick's Picks still cracks me up - for god's sake, they're boards, after all.) That being said, you should listen to the, as always, excellent Charlie Miller 2nd set of this show. I normally love the immediacy of an audience tape, but this sounds like it was recorded from under the stage. How spoiled I have become!

I forgot how good this show was. After the hassle in Milwaukee the night before (see review),the boys seem ready to have some fun. They're hot out of the box with a smoking tandem and wrap the first set with the same energy on Deal. The front of the second set features mostly medium-slow tempo ballads (three of them with a nautical theme) and the back half all rockers. What is unusual is the inverted middle of the set with Wharf Rat>Other One before Drums and Miracle>Bertha after. Bobby was as good as Jerry that night- check them out on the Sugar Mag. A FOB would be nice.
