Good lord the energy at the SPAC shows no wonder why they were told not to come back after this one. Record setting crowd plugged the place, "Butch" hanging off the balcony, gaggles of people bum rushing the balcony lanes, naked and untethered souls wandering the lawn, marshmallow wars, a rushing flood of people from the lawn into the reserved section and a parking lot that says "I dare you to find your car" as you say to yourself "Which bridge did I cross to get in here?" Don't forget the rain.
Thanks to whoever greased SPAC's palm for the GD 88 final return. I loved GD in the summertime and for the east coast this was one of their marquee outdoor venues to let it all hang out. I have such fantastic memories of this venue and all the shows I saw there. This GD show in particular is my favorite of the 4. Some inspired moments here - classic 85 high energy. Out of the gates with a rollicking Midnight/Bertha, Spirited Stagger Lee, and the pleasant first set surprise of Crazy Fingers>Supplication>HighTime. Not a big HIABucket fan but they get a good grip on this one and rock it nicely. Stranger>Eyes to keep the pace on track from the first set. Don't see too many of those either. Listen for the whistling bottle rocket go from the left channel to right in the Women are Smarter on this recording. Fireworks in the building???? Good ole east coast hippie punks.
I like this FOB over the Oade aud. I'm more of a fan of SPAC audience recordings as they tend to capture the whole picture. The crowd in this show is just as much a player as the band and hence derserve their recognition. Beautiful rendition of Baby Blue to end things too bad it gets chopped. brutal cut.
Solid 4 for both recording and performance.

Is it just me, or is Jerry trying really hard to kick off the Lazy Lightnin? Seems like he tries hard but gets shot down.
By the way, balcony dude, I think Phil called you "Butch", rather than "Bush". :)

having seen about 9 shows before this.. and just graduating high school the week before i remember getting lawn seats the day of the show and dragging 15 of my friends along with me. By the end of the night 5 of us ventured on a 4 year roadtrip on tour. : ) This was definitely not the best show of the tour but has a lot of great energy. the recording is pretty good as well. i do have o apologize though... it was me "bush" that was flirting with two girls while hanging off of the balcony that held up the show... sorry

Thankyou these have their moments and are respectable audiences. Many of these 85 sbs have hiss and lost fidelity.
we need more Hq audiences from 85 please send more from different mic sources.
The oade pcm's are widely circulated from 85 but NOT the best sounding, by far. They always sound muffled and flat with little clean bass response.
