Subject: No Satisfaction?
Gphishmon---You don't work for the US Postal Service, per chance?? Yikes! You want the "perfect" band from San Francisco to show up every night....you should have hit 37 Journey shows, instead. ;)
This show is SICK. Sound is absolutely grand. I love 86' because it IS so up and down....Scarlet>Touch>LLR>GDTRFB--and Tom Thumb waitin' on the other side of space???!!!!!!!!!! Get the F#%@ outta here!!! SICK!! The Black Peter was worth the price of admission , all by it's lonesome!

Subject: Review of the Show
Outstanding show. I read a previous review and just felt compelled to write mine. At 13 years old I saw my first Dead Show in 1981. I was a young kid who thought he was cool and went to Dead Shows. Don't get me wrong, I loved the music, but was not a Dead Head. I saw a half dozen or more shows between 1981 and this show in 1986. This was the show where as I say "I got it". It finally clicked in my head what a Dead Show was all about. Maybe you had to be there, but it opened with a fantastic "Feel Like a Stranger". When Bobby howled those amazing words, "Let's Get on with the show", the lights went on the crowd, 18,000 dead heads screamed, rasied their arms, and just went nuts. Each song had great vibes to it, there was a great mix of ups and downs as far as the songs went. They seemed to just know when to get the crowd up and when to bring them back down. Bobby's voice and passion was dead on that night. They had their typical jams, but what was nice, is they played music that night, they played songs, and they played with the audience. The opening of the 2nd set, as I like to cal to this day "Scarlet Touch of Rain" was amazing. Jerry did his usual great singing in Scarlet Begonias, and had the crowd jumping, then they broke into Touch of Grey, which at the time was still relatively new to. When Bobby hit that switch over from "I will survive" to "We will survive", again the lights went on the crowd, and we all knew what was meant. I myself as not even aware that they song had that switch over, so it felt like something extra special to me. Then to watch Bobby sing "Looks Like Rain" with the place dark except for a single white light shining down on him, was perfect. Throwin' Stones was and still is a great song wit hso much meaning. A song I don't think the Dead played enough. Then Jerry sang a gorgeous Brokedown Palace to bring the crowd back down to earth before sending us out to enjoy the memories. At this time I was in college, away from home for the first time, and songs like "Feel Like a Stranger, Touch of Grey, and Brokedown Palace" hit me in the chest and it felt like the songs were meant for me that night. That show was my favorite and to this day is the one show that stands out in my mind and it is the one show I still brag to others about. Download the show, put yourself inside the arena, and listen to the music and words. Enjoy it, there is no reason not to.

Subject: This is a review of the show ...
and not of the sound quality, since I have not listened to this recording and have no intention of ever doing so. This was the worst of a really bad selection of 37 GD shows that I attended from 1981-1995. Maybe the worst of 1986, possibly the worst of the 80's. This despite the fact that the beginning of each set was pretty decent. The first set opened with Stranger, but things got lamer. The second opened with some space jamming, which was entertaining, and resolved into Scarlet. That had me dancing for the first time since the Stranger, but they did about a one-minute jam before going into, you guessed it, Touch of Grey. Then LLR in the 2nd set which was an abomination as far as I was concerned, but this version was particularly weak. No leads by Jerry, only howling by Bob. GDTR revived the energy, but only a little; this show was clearly on life-support by nowTom Thumb's Blues is lame, but at least hadn't been overplayed by then. Peter>Throwin>Lovelight - terrible - the Lovelight again had no jamming.
This was an almost completely jamless show with little energy. Why bother with a jamless show when there are so many other bands who sing and play much more professionally? A bad Dead show may be better than a good day at work, but this show wasted my time, wasted my money, and most important of all, wasted a precious opportunity to see a great show without having to travel 500 miles for the poor college student I was then. And to top it off, it took over an hour to get out of the lot, and I had to listen to these guys in the car, for whom it was their first show, raving about what a great show it was, while I was bumming over how bad the whole 3 night stand had been
I'd give it no stars if I could, but the system forces me to give it at least one.

Subject: Good Quality Recording.....
My only beef is why this nite has a good SBD while the band was stumbling over themselves throughout and the nite before's SBD sounds like shit and the band was on ??? Kind of sucks if ya ask me,but like a bumper sticker that used to circulate,A bad dead show is better than a good day at work !!!

Shntool fix by Willy of previous Braverman seed; SBD> Master Cassette> DAT> CD> SHN; Note- d2 goes over 80 minutes, you can either move the encore to the end of d1, or use CD Wave to trim the first 20 seconds of tuning from the start
