Liner Notes: An in-depth interview with the GRATEFUL DEAD conducted by BRENT MYDLAND, featuring JERRY GARCIA, BOB WEIR, PHIL LESH, and MICKEY HART.
Arista sent me this promo album along with the Touch of Grey single, the My Brother Esau cassette, and an In The Dark bumper sticker when I worked at a radio station. The album cover mimicked In The Dark but it was black and white. Side one was un-racked for radio play, which I chose to digitize, as the running time is just over twenty minutes and is easily listened to in one sitting. Arista must have been in a hurry, because Dick Latvala's name was misspelled as Latuala.

I couldn't help but think of the Chris Farley show, [interviewing Paul McCartney] while listening to the beginning of this.

WTF?
I tried that already....I use an MP3 source to listen to music and not lossless/shn. Typically, this generous site has the format I can utilize...guess I'll have to wait until then.
Thanks, Sox fan...when I have a moment I'll download the goods....btw, Big Papi better win the MVP this year!

Lots of fun
Ever wonder what actors the band members would pick to play themselves in a movie about themselves? Or whether they'd rather be run over by a steamroller on a hot day with an empty stomach or a cold day with a full stomach? If so this is your download. This is a real fun listen, you'll enjoy it. Some poignant conversation surrounding Garcia's then recent brush with death and its impact on the band. I'd love to see some more uploads along this vein...lots of fun! And for those of you wondering where to download...try the link that says "download show" on the left column of this page.

LMAO
Well I never thought I would see the day that a Deadhead who used to trade Maxell XLII 90 tapes back in the day would complain about the archive! Don't you get it man? This is Deadbase only WITH the music! It took me about 15 minutes - with some help from a friend - to figure how how to convert SHN files to WAVE, etc. It is easy - once you know how - and best of all FREE! Anyway, good luck man... All I can say is that the minimal amount of effort required will be repaid ten fold, TRUST ME... I do know what you mean as most shows are available in mp3, but you can convert to mp3 yourself if you visit here :

Good Luck and Happy Listening! Oh, and I should add that I meant no offense in my comments. I re-read them after I posted this and it could sound like I was being an A--hole and that was not my intent. I hope this info helps...

MKW or other software compression tool
It's really not difficult. Head over to
etree.org and check out the information there about lossless compression and download MKW or another file converter. It takes about 5 seconds to convert this file from SHN to WAV for use in any MP3 player or PC jukebox, whatever, and even the most software illiterate person (myself is a good example) can easily figure out how to use it. This file is definitely worth the five minutes of extra effort you might have to take to obtain the software needed to convert it to WAV.
