I'm Gettin' Spoiled
This is another phat Bertha Remaster of a well-recorded show with excellent performances. Man, I may never listen to anything else, I'm so darn spoiled. Thanks Jay Ashley and thanks Archives.

Last time I saw DSO...twas this show they performed
1st Set: A breezy, replenished "Hey Pocky." Brent is charmingly snazzy. Time for some lascivious tongue-wagging, "Minglewood." Jerry's energy dictates..sometimes he's lost - sometimes in mode..."T right here in the big old Apple" "Mississippi" and "Uncle" both improve as the song develops...the latter especially building a keen steam of momentum even if it's a tad sloppy. Party time, balloons erupt throigh the crowd during the "Mexicali" transition...I say embrace the polka roots. "To Lay" Plenty of juice, but sometimes I think Jerry's overcomplicating the song with too many notes. It is honorably offered if not particularly seductive. "Masterpiece" wiggles whereas Bobby admirably holds his end of the bargain... him and Jerry are chiming in magnificently during late 3's. A very good effort. Brent's carefully choosing his spots up against Jerry's constant explorations during a clean, thorough yet not otherworldly "Bird."
2nd Set: Weird cause Jerry and co. deliver a perfect first chord of "China" then step back for a minute of tuning before the formal introduction. The blistering pace sets the performance bar high but they follow through. Credit the rhythm section for providing an active and revved up engine for Jerry to spark off of. The dignified "Ship" is purposeful. Right away off to "Estimated" where there's little mutual shine, but plenty of focused attention at the work on hand. "Terrapin" is give a full-spectrum treatment due to Brent's synths that nicely guide an otherwise above-average version. "Drums" is sufficiently trance-inducing while "Space" features Jerry as chief narrator of a stalker eyeing then smothering his prey. It concludes with the stalker revealing his many tentacles and sliding them along slimily across a vulnerable. Of course after this sleaze there's only one way to burst out, and that's with "Miracle." It's fine but "Fantasy's" pleadings strike a deeper and more resounding chord...shoulder to shoulder on "Hey Jude." Why not a "Sugar" to close things out...the predator indulged and now wants to assauge his victim's festering inferiority with this sweet dedication to deliciousness. Just a rockin good time :o)
"Baby Blue" is firm but fair as evidenced by the warm tones and reassuring pace. (DSO closed the night off with a 'Music' filler)
