Subject: Pretty damn good show...
..and pretty trippy as I recall. I remember specifically the Cassidy being GREAT, and pretty out-there. We were cruising around the concourse, and I remember being lost in the second jam of Cassidy, until they came back to the riff ( one of those " oh yeah, THAT'S what they were playing moments ).You have to know, it seemed like everyone in the stadium was dosed that night. Also, check out the Eyes. It was pretty smokin' ,too. All in all, considering the quality of the playing, and the quality of the scene,it's a SOLID 4 star show.

Subject: sugaree 2nd set opener
not down playing your comment, dmilks.... they had opened with 2nd set sugarees in the past. in 83 they opened with it a few times alone. alfond arena u. of maine 4 19 83 and then again in venutra 7 30 83. the maine sugaree was better maybe cause of the small arena. those were fun days back when they would play small halls. the ventura sugaree was nice but jerry was sick and wore a long sleeve that day. in the heat of southern cal. hmmmmmmm

Subject: 7/12/89!
The first set's volume was low and you had to be on the field to hear set one good, but the playing wasn't all that bad.Far From Me was pretty good.Set 2 was a lot louder but I dont think it was as well played as the first set.I remembered Dear Mr. Fantasy being pretty hot ,but disc 3 of this download needs to be pitch corrected,I am in agreement with the previous reviewer stated that disc 3 is fast.

Subject: Sugaree
I wonder what got into Jerry this night that made him decide to open set 2 with Sugaree. Maybe Hornsby suggested it? I would bet that this was the only Sugaree second set opener ever, and it musta been a thrill for the deadheads who were aware of how out of place it was.
4 star performance, 3 star sound.

Subject: My Intro
My first show, wow. You really have to see this band to appreciate them. I never missed them in the D.C./Hampton area (and various other venures across our fair nation) over the next 7 years until their end. This show rocked. Bruce Hornsby joined them for Sugaree and a few other songs. The next night rocked too, with the rain arriving after, "Looks Like Rain," making a swamp of the Redskins' field. I give this show a 4 since 5's shouldn't be given out unless the show is extraordinary. Audience tapes are fun, but I'd like to hear this as well via soundboard someday. The Dead changed my life forever - thanks JH for turning me onto this World! I actually met them all at a reception in the Library of Congress a couple years later in honor of the release of one of Mickey Hart's CDs made to preserve aboriginal music.
