Night 3 at the Knick
Great third night to close out a fantastic run at the Knick. This is my favorite first set from the run- not only because we get two Brent tunes. Five songs from the first set made the cut for Dozin'. That's more than 3/24 and 3/25, together. Lot of rarities and spirited playing. Only Dupree's of 1990 (wouldn't be played again for over four years, 9/24/94. Second BTW since its return. Only Railroad Blues of 1990 (next played 6/6/91). Excellent versions of row jimmy and blow away to close out the first set.
Only Built to Last of 1990 to open the second set (unfortunately was never played again). Gimme Some Lovin->Morning Dew from So Glad You Made It. Just love Phil and Brent going for it on GSW- can never get enough of that vocal pairing. Beautiful dew to close out set, followed by Brokedown Palace encore (last of sp90). Must listen to Jerry and Brent on this one. Only three more x paired up (6/24, 7/10, 7/16). Next stop, Nassau!

Best since Saratoga '85
Last in a three night sweep. Set 1 standard, but BTW was really good. Set 2 after Victim really took off. China Cat/Rider still one of my all time favorites. Brent/Bob duet in Women Smart was really cool. DEW!!!...Best I ever heard or saw. After amlost 15 years still raises the hair on the back of my neck. Jerry was doing wind mills a-la Pete Townsend at the end. Almost cried during Brokedown; so fitting yet so sad. Management at the Knick actually included Jerry in a wall mural as tribute.
Unfortunately, all the best stuff never made it to Dozin'. All I have is an old tape from WPYX radio broadcast of the show my Bro-In-Law made. Someone please up load this show. The missing stuff can fade away.

first set
aside from picasso moon and brent's 90s contributions, when i closed my eyes i warped to another era. the energy inside the knick was high, and, during the first set, i thought to myself, it doesn't get any better than this. while i wouldn't normally recommend late-era dead first sets, i cannot speak highly enough of this one. it's solid from the minute the boyz are out of the gate. big railroad is on par with '81, row jimmy is astoundingly crisp, and the blow away borders on pig pen intensity. seriously. check out this first set. that had to have been the last full throttle dupree's.

A clean sweep
The band completes a hat trick with this show!! After 2 strong shows during the previous nights, they don't let up and bust out this fine high energy show, that sends the Knick into Grateful Dead lore. From the Bucket all the way to the Dew the band delivers. When people ask why I followed this band around and collect their music, just point to this run ...point to this tour and let the music speak for itself. D/L the whole run!!
