Subject: The FOG
I was just listening to this for the first time in quite a while. The seemed fired up & supportive of Vince, so I turned it up for the build and crescendo in "Way to Go Home" because its one of those places you can hear that there are over 13,000 SUPER HAPPY HEADS - you know the places I'm talking about - when you can actually feel the emotional swell and even picture Candace's lighting from your memories of the show and then, OMG - THE PHIL BOMBS hit!
Like I said in my original review - not a perfect show, not the best show, but listening to it matches my memories - a very fun energetic show. I'm sure some of that is because when I walked thru the doors that night I knew that I was, for the first time, going to catch the next 6 shows in a row, but there were 13,000 of my brothers & sisters there in the room with me that were having one hell of a time too.
1-11-2006 - Original Review
Hampton again, and again sortof a surprise (I had an inside track since a good friends mom was the Ops Director at the Coliseum at the time). Not as last minute as the "Formerly the Warlocks" shows in 89, but they still waited until about a week ahead of time to announce & release tickets and they were only available locally from what I remember.
I remember being stunned when they opened this show with Help>Slip>Franklin - sortof like they were saying "All bets are off, so hold on, here we go". And so started a week of very enjoyable (albeit not perfect), high energy kick-ass (imho) shows in Hampton and Landover. It's always great when Phil sings - tonight was no exception. This was my first chance to enjoy some of the new tunes they debuted a few weeks earlier in Oakland and I wasn't disappointed. Lots of heads weren't very fond of Vince (Brent was definitely in a class above), but I liked Way to Go. Estimated was, well, WOW. And The Wheel was my favorite from shows I've seen. Everyone in the audience was riding a powerful energy wave that finally crested with a rockin US Blues encore. Sometime during the show, a VERY thick fog bank rolled in. As Heads were leaving going back out into the lots, you'd hear this chorus of oohs, wows, cools, ahhs, etc. It was nice mellow wrap up to an extrememly enjoyable show.
I tend to like AUD recordings a little better than SBDs. I feel like they come closer to recapturing the experience than SBDs do. This recording is no exception. Has a great sound and it most definitely brings back the feelings and emotions I had that night.

I guess they're always gonna be the limp noodle in a supermodel wet-dream(effin fagors). Hornsby shows were all great to me tho..........Next best thing to Brent, and could have even been as good as they were before he went on if things worked out different.............Thanks to all you guys for uploading these shows...........Just gotta love you all as much as them for allowing you tape them..................Salute!!!!!!
es..................
They bring back such fond flashbacks. 8-D
