If your trying to judge Dead shows on a career long continuum, yeah this may not be quite a five star show. BUT. this is certainly a clean, well executed performance and a STRONG show. Particularly great versions of "Sugaree" (usually a passover song in the Vince days), "So Many Roads", "Bird Song", "Estimated", and "Throwing Stones". Really the whole show gives an impression of an aging but humbled unit that would still throw down when all of them had a reason to play hard again.
Bobby's voice is cracking and it gives him this grizzled bluesman sound. Even Eternity is interesting at this show.
Phil is singing ALL OVER THE PLACE (in a good way). Providing hearty backup vocals just where its needed.
Jerry's playing is thought out and well executed. 1993 imho is a better year for Garcia's playing that the previous year or the decline to come. Not saying he wasn't using, but between the strong spring and summer runs, he could still crank out the goods when he felt like it.
Nice recording. A Miller remaster could make it louder. I admit I had to crank this one up. Sound is balanced and everyone is even in the mix.
One of my top five for 93', def a five star show for 93'.

Decent late-period show. Normally it's a bad sign when Jerry's voice sounds frail early in the first set, but he holds his own. The playing is consistent throughout -- no embarassments, but not a lot of peaks, either.

Very nice show from '93. Crisp, tight playing. Low level board recording is only bummer but it still catches the essence of the evening. Broken Arrow is a gem. Few songs allow Phil's voice to shine through, but this is one. He sings this tune beautifully. Eyes is clean but short which is a surprise for a second set opener. Attics is a treat and agree that Liberty could be the tune of the night. Jerry hits everything right on and I have to believe he was reading lyrics as he did quite a bit with the new tunes starting around '93. Regardless this tune is the anthem of Hunter, Garcia, and The Dead's iconoclastic tendencies and has always been a personal favorite of mine. A great funky, sing-a-long that I always remember Jerry playing with a smile on his face.

Hunter's lyrics are some of the best --
Jerry's licks are sick
"Say what I mean and I don't give a damn - I do believe and I am who I am"
If you listen to only one, 'Liberty' from this show is worthy --- listen.

Jerr hits his marks
Awesome -- Got better the more they played it...
please listen to Hunter's version too...very cool -
different the deads/ jerry's.
There is NOTHING like a dead show!

A strong performance this night.
A solid 3 out of 5. Could have been a 4 if the recording level was little higher. A little hiss during the quiet moments.

Very strong first set, especially since the band could have easily bailed after Eternity, since this became a standard 1st set closer by this time. Bird Song is a nice addition for the eighth song of the set, and the band sounds great during it. Set II is very strong and consistent throughout. Proabably one of the best played second sets of Spring 93, if not the whole year. Weir hints at Mind Left Body during Space. Other One sounds so old school that I even hear Jerry, then Phil sing the "In A Circle" lyric! I don't often throw out 5 stars for shows from 92 on. This one, especially the second set is a gem.
In my opinion, this is the strongest night of the 4 night Nassau run .... 4/1/93 is good too, but 4/2/93 and 4/5/93 really don't hold up performance-wise (and setlist-wise in terms of 4/5/93) to 4/4/93. Just my assessment FWIW. Although I will say this about 4/5/93, the first set is very strong and the Deal is great.

nice flow to this show...jerry is having a great time, pulling some very nice, clean, smooth solos. Midnight Hour opener gets it started nicely. I will never forget this show for a few reason but mostly b/c it was so smooth. I always thought the So Many Roads was one of the best. Eyes to open the second set is very tight and the Attics was a ncie surprise. Not a big fan of Liberty, but iwas solid to close. Overall, this SBD sounds very nice, even mix, but it is very low. I like it to hear the show perfectly, but the audience copy does me just fine too, the crowd was pumped and you can easily tell with that version. show is a 4 sound is a 3.5
