December 1965 & January February 1966 in Vietnam
Ap Tan Phuoc - 1st inf div conducts a sweep & destroy operation on a rubber plantation and meet strong resistance. On December 20, 1965 a network of tunnels are discovered.
Phuoc Lai - February 1, 1966 1st inf div engage the enemy. The VC use mines, booby traps and punji sticks. Helicopters evacuate the wounded.
Ben Cat - Dam is being raised by Engineers at Little Tuttle Creek.
Pleiku - February 20, 1966 an Amry chaplain hears confession in the field (from 25th Inf). On February 21, 1966 a team gives medical aid to refugee village and basic hygiene is taught.
Di An - January 29, 1966 retreat ceremony for 1st Inf commander.
Cam Ranh Bay - February 12, 1966 an interview with skipper of the Army ship BDL John U.D. Page (T-AK 4496).
February 13, 1966 an interview with skipper of tug LT 1940. Tugboats are kept busy - DeLong Pier is always in operation via 155th transportation.
February 15, 1966 interview with WO Delaney on floating machine shop 789. Machine shop repair is shown (no safety glasses!).
Oahu Hawaii - February 8, 1966 AN/MCS46 terminal unit arrives & is delivered and a radar dome is erected by STRATCOM at Satellite Communications Station @ Helemano Military Reservation. The main unit is one of 4 such units.
San Jose, Costa Rica - US Army Communications Facility part of Strategic Communications Command. Buildings are air conditioned to help keep down volcanic ash problems. The facility serves the US Army, peace corps and USAID.
Bien Hoa - rapid construction of civilian small businesses, for military customers. Most are corrugated steel. Laundries and car washes are very popular.
