Subject: great show
This is one great show from Giant Sand. Good sound quality and an inspirated repertoire and interpretation by the boys. Flying around the sun at a remarkable speed is one of the high points of the performance, but the level is great all the way through.
The repertoire is mostly from the last records, with few incursions on the older ones and some new songs (well, at least i didn't knew them).

Subject: great show
this is certainly one of the most inspired performances of the giant sand fall tour, including a great intro to "flying around the sun..." and a few more gems.
The show is not complete, the so far unpublished songs have been edited out.
Sound quality is very good, but not perfect, in the quieter passages there is a slight buzz (a problem with many of the recordings from the fall tour)

Subject: phenomenal show
I've downloaded a few Giant Sand (GS) shows and I'll be honest in that I've been unimpressed with all shows until this one. All other GS shows that I've downloaded from the Internet Archive just sound like joe-baga-donuts alternative-rock to my ears. High recording quality, but only decent music -nothing to write home about. This show on the other hand, is very different. For starters, the general mood is very mellow, spacey and acoustic. This is what I hoped GS would sound like: Americana(with a south-west slant)-folk-rock within a "Calexico" and "Friends of Dean Martinez" frame work. 5 star performance and 5 star sound quality: it's perfect music. I can't reccomend this show enough!
I suggest that you download this show and use Naim Amour's 12-19-01 show as a filler. Two high quality sounding recordings with some of the same musicians and similar music: a perfect match!
