Subject: "The best" maybe if listening through speakers
Although there is evidence that the fidelity was originally very clean and the stereo separation was superior to most bootlegs this recording has been post-processed with a doubling effect and other modifications that ruin it. Not to be confused with the looping (echo effect) that Howie is famous for using in his live performances, this doofus attempt at enhancing the recording is particularly noticeable when heard through headphones. It is truly a shame that such a great recording now sounds like it is playing inside a tin can.
EDIT: 11/17/07
I stand by my original review from 09/26/07 above . The number of downloads and high praise has to be qualified. One must consider the quality of typical downloaded files. If you are used to compressed mp3's on iPods and computer speakers a different yardstick is used to measure. What is left of this recording is better in certain ways than most collections around here. However, that does not excuse the doofus mishandling that has tarnished this recording.

i'm fairly certain that that is not the case. and i'm sure a few of the 5800+ others who downloaded this show from here are audiophiles such as yourself, yet they haven't commented in such a manner. the show sounds great on my computer, my stereo, my home theater, my car, my ipod, as well as my old portable cd player, using a variety of different headphones. nevertheless, since i put this show up here, i have yet to hear a complaint such as this. do make sure you note the notes in the txt file, in case that is what you're hearing.

Subject: Fantastic!
This is a great sounding recording, and it's hard to believe it's not soundboard. This sits right next to the April 28, 2002 Howie show for sonic quality. ( http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=1746 )
Thanks!

Subject: Excellent
This isn't soundboard? This is a terrific recording, very clear, minimal drunk-guy-yelling, and a solo show to boot. This is one of my favorite shows available on the Archive and an absolute must-have. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

Subject: Great Sound
The quality of this recording is amazing. The music is crystal clear and no crowd noise comes through during the songs.
