Great Old Books Smell Good
This was recommended by the historical librarian in the Bangor Room, Bill Cooke, at the Bangor Public Library as the definitive history of early Bangor Maine. I found it to be much more, the pdf file doesn't do it justice, the original text and pictures are very well done and much of the subject matter is in the first person or from original business or government transcripts. I spent hours and hours just lost in the pages describing the late 1700's in central Maine.
