jm_For Spring (idmix14) (March 20, 2006)

Last months have been awfully cold up where I live, I cannot remember having seen so much snow since I was a kid.

Back in those days, I almost prayed for the snow to fall, desperatly wishing for the snowballs season to open once again.

As a teenager, I kept on wishing for snow since it could have made it impossible for the bus to drive us at school (which never happened though).

Now, as a grown up something, I cannot help myself quoting a girl I met some weeks ago. It's a kind of haiku she shouted in the snow covered streets of Berlin:

" Winter:
- p*ss off! "

This one is for the upcoming spring.

Subject: Blissful Spring Arrives
Jean-Michel once again demonstrates that he is among the true masters of the ambient mix. The eleven tracks included in this mix are blended seamlessly into 78-minutes of warm, beautiful ambience. The magic of this mix is how JM unifies such a wide variety of ambient sources into one continuous flowing movement. The ambient noise of Christopher McFalls processed field recordings in "1517 Cherry", the sparse and distant piano improvisions of Marcus BroeselÂs "Point Zero", the uplifting harmonious sounds of Huw RobertsÂ"Odate in Harmonics", the abstract ambience of Gultskra ArtiklerÂs "Krasnie Glotai", the gentle, minimal drones of BokorÂs "Stay", and the final subtle microsounds of Heribert FriedlÂs "Converge" all seem to merge naturally into one cohesive extended moment of bliss.
