Subject: To answer your question
Stalin banned this film because -in his paranoid mind- he viewed it as a metaphor to his own brutal regime.
Sergei Eisenstein did'nt live long after that. He was mysteriously "poisoned".

Subject: Unmistakably Russian!
Fun little trailer for Ivan de Terrible here. Lots of great images for this Russian classic (even though I cant stand it). The narrator in the trailer says the film was banned. By who? The Americans? I dont think so
