I feel Johnny Hoodoo (name correct?) is a fantastic and enchanting player of the accoustic country blues styles (I wish I were that good -after 15 years!).
I´ve never believed that "Outside Woman Blues" could ever be covered equalling the original. Same goes for "Police Dog Blues" which makes one´s fingers break. "Shanty Blues" I consider better than Henry Thomas´ original recording. Very interesting is the banjo version of "Texas Easy Street".
The echo of Patton´s "Spoonful" has a truely fantastic effect and makes me think higher now of Patton´s version which originally I thought less off than other "Spoonful"-recordings of the early period. Now I see the opportunities the slide version offers to a skilled player when playing it the Patton-way: It is highly communiucative.
Only "Gone Dead Train" is too long for me, and the initial seconds of the "Three Women Blues" could have been edited, well anyway this doesn´t really matter. I like the easy, simple, authentic sound with a true love of the originals - thank you for the listening experience!
