Subject: Well...
While this performance rocks, I just don't feel the soul I was hoping to hear. No doubt Jason is a bad mother and does things quite frankly can't be done on a diatonic(!), their sound misses the mark as far as blues is concerned. If one is expecting straight ahead blues, you may leave a bit disappointed. These cats are really stretching the boundries. Don't get me wrong, I dig the sound a bunch, in a jazzy kinda way!! Check out Pat Ramsey for a taste of who Jason studied with.

This is really a wonderful recording. What a harp player. I heard a lot of player(Rod Piazza,James Harman) but Jason Ricci is fantastic.*****

I had heard about Jason Ricci from archive.org posters for a long time, but never sat down and listened to the music.. I tried out this show and let me tell you, it smokes! .. first off, i'm glad to see the mp3's / streaming option was allowed for this recording. thanks for that. .. The first song is a slow intro harp. with mellow / lazy feel to it, a little muffled. but don't let the first track fool you. go to track 2 "Hip Shake" and see what this show is really about ... A get-up and dance fun traditional chord progressions.. really fun stuff. "Blue & Lonesome" is just that .. a slow sad blues song. "Feel Good Funk" is nice and funky, and the "Jam" after FGF is kinda arabian / middle eastern feeling. "Doing Time" is again slow and traditional bluesy ... A fun show overall, great sound quality, and Jason can really blow that harmonica ... he's only in his early 20's so it's great to see such talent at a young age. Check out this show, you won't be dissapointed!

Subject: WoW! Fantastic show
Never heard of this guy but man, I'm spreading the word fast. This guy is a harp genius - never a dull moment. Great dynamics with the whole band. We want more!

Subject: TRUST THE REVIEWS
I am telling y'all right now: trust the reviews. These guys are unbelievable. I can't believe I had never heard of these guys before. Jason plays like Duane Allman on the harp. Which is funny, because Duane always said that he tried to immitate a harp when he was playin slide. The guitarist plays like Stevie Ray. This band is sikk.

Subject: A "MUST SEE" BAND
I've had the pleasure of seeing these guys twice and was blown away both times. Totally amazing harp player...you can't imagine til you actually hear him; great up-and-coming young guitar player...thoroughly rips; excellent rhythm section. What more do you need? And they're very friendly, approachable guys who appreciate a good audience. If they're anywhere near you, take the time to go see them: you won't be disappointed.

Yeap, one of the best live recordings I ever heard. But if it were an studio album it sure would be one of the best albums ;)

this is a stellar recording of a smokin' show. sit back, close your eyes, and you're there. if you're unsure, check out "My Head Is A Bad Neighborhood" to get an idea of what you're in for. or try the kickass "Same Thing". or feed your head on "Reverse Technology", a tribute to coltrane with "Mr. PC", "Afro Blue", and "My Favorite Things" in it. or an alternately blistering and spacy "Feel Good Funk > Jam > Turkish Coffee > Amazing Grace > Turkish Coffee" that spans 40 minutes or so (that's jazz flutist herbie mann's Turkish Coffee).

the band is great, and really tight (they tour 300 nights a year). and jason plays harp like you've never heard it, or even imagined it, played before. awesome show.
