Subject: Jason Ricci & New Blood Show of 12/1/2004 at Terra Blues
This is the best I've seen and heard Jason and the band yet. Those people who left early missed a good thing...halfway through he was just getting warmed up. Jason can rock out with the best of them....but when he brought it down to the sweet stuff: Amazing Grace and the new and as yet untitled "late night Pretty thing" written by Shawn Starsky, I was in heaven. This is where he shines...he can take you to the highs and lows, touching every emotion. This is such a tight band...they work so well as a unit; not a wrong note even with the new Bass player Todd Edmunds. You have a winner there, Mr. Ricci! The symbiosis between Jason and lead guitarist Shawn Starsky works to excellent advantage. They are perfectly matched. Steve Johnson doesn't overkill with the drums. His vast experience shows. What a terrific evening to be there in person...listening in again brings me right back to the mood JR created. Wouldn't have missed this particular evening for anything. Despite a long haul in from the 'burbs, Terra Blues with JR & NB is now on my "not to be missed" list.
Elizabeth
