Subject: So Worth It
A rare treat! The weather was awful this night, and the usually jammed Iota had a very small crowd, whom Kevn treated to a quiet, intimate show (I was there, signed poster to prove it). This is a great counterpoint to the STAR shows with the full band. Any shortcomings on sound qualty (and it sounds fine to me) are more than made up for by the excellent renditions of familiar songs and the folky vibe of no drummer. IMHO highlights include super tight LGD and soulful Peacemaker.
Notes: Should have been billed as "A Special Evening with Kevn Kinney and Friends" as the setting was quite intimate. A heavy, wintry mix falling outside kept many folks away, but about 50-80 people showed up and got some special treats like a 14 minute BHAAP and a slow Peacemaker. The venue has a strict "no taping" policy, but the soundguy was kind enough to give me his one available mono feed. The levels on the recording came out ok, but it sounded pretty flat so I converted it to stereo and mastered it to bring some of the warmth back and enhance the dynamics and pseudo stereo spread. Sounds good to me. Enjoy. -Stitt
