C PhotonC Photon - Gritty EP [kpu062] (0)

try new player!embedding and help

Get down wit' yo bad selves! This new EP from Sarajevo's C Photon is lots of fun and actually danceable (gasp!). Seeing as how I'm tired and lazy, I'll let C Photon describe it for you himself:

"With this EP my goal was to produce a complex mixture of organic sounds with the help of digital technology; a digital reconstruction of organic sounds. A session-like approach was used a lot. I think that sequencing can`t always work for my music and with this approach I can achieve more natural sounding results. Classic sounds like piano, rhodes, acoustic drums and guitars were (used), and granular sampling was used a lot to produce some unique sounds."

Subject: It's Ok

The diligent Kikapu Label from Oregon introduces yet another new artist with C Photon to the Netlabel scene. The four-tracker "Gritty" moves between crisp grainmanipulations within small sonic environments, until smooth downbeat figures manage to escape from the static scenery in "Escape Theme". "Gritty" bitcrushes a pitched amenbeat from what I imagine in front of a nice eclectic chime wallpaper, at one point, the
same scheme with the grainsampler plugged off again. "Coming Down (Rock Da Dum)" works similar, but differently arranged and is more flexible with the rhythmic shifting.
